Cognitive

A system of
psychotherapy with an operationalized treatment is based on an elaborated
theory of psychopathology and personality. The theory has been empirically
validated in hundreds of cognitive science studies, and the therapy itself has
been demonstrated to be effective in hundreds of randomized controlled trials
for a wide variety of psychosocial, psychiatric disorders problems, and medical
conditions with psychological components. Research has shown that CT is highly
effective in helping patients not only overcome their disorders but also in
preventing relapse. (Beck, 2005) and (Hollon et al., 2005)
Family Therapy
Is designed to help
families collaborating in order to address problems. It addresses specific
issues that affect the psychological health of the family, such as major life
transitions or mental health conditions. It may be used as the primary mode of
treatment or as a complementary approach. The course of treatment is often
brief, and most family therapy models seek to address the communication (verbal
and nonverbal) styles of the family, as well as any individual issues that may
be interfering with the cohesiveness of the family system.

Trauma-Focused
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Is a components-based
model of psychotherapy that addresses the unique needs of children with
PTSD symptoms, depression, behavior problems, and other difficulties related to
traumatic life experiences. Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy is a
short-term treatment approach that can work in as few as 12 sessions. It also
may be provided for longer periods of time depending on the child’s and
family’s needs. Individual sessions for the child and for the parents or
caregivers, as well as joint parent-child sessions, are part of the treatment.
As with any therapy, forming a therapeutic relationship with the child and
parent is critical to TF-CBT.
